Current Music: City Sleeps - "Not An Angel"
So if you've noticed how inconsistent I've been in posting for the past year+, you know exactly what I mean. Bleh, I suck at keeping this thing updated. I've been determined in the past to make regular posts . . . . two words: EPIC FAIL. I'm going to make another go of it though. It isn't as if there's nothing for me to write about. Between a failing marriage, the lack of a job, and the scandal going on in apartment A7, there's plenty to keep the mind and hands of a would-be writer occupied.
About this Entry
Oct. 31st, 2006 @ 11:45 pm I love this holiday :D
I totally sunk into the spirit of Halloween night (haha, get it? *spirit* <-- intentionally dorky just so you know). I carved my pumpkin while watching It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I watched a little of some Halloween-related specials on The History Channel and The Travel Channel. I handed out some candy to trick-or-treaters. I dug into some candy myself (I'll be walking some of the calories off tomorrow). I wish it could be Halloween the entire month of October, and part of November, maybe until Thanksgiving?

Oct. 31st, 2006 @ 09:50 pm A first attempt . . .
I've never tried carving a pumpkin using this technique before. I decided to take out my x-acto linoleum cutting set and have some fun though, and I don't think I did too bad for a first try.

About this Entry
Oct. 19th, 2006 @ 12:50 am not so practical, not so conventional
getting used to our situation - distractions
complicated questions and the emptiness that more than ever
I feel
with each heartbeat beating faster faster
that word - that impossible word dangling on the tip of my tongue
pricariously dangling
so dangerous under circumstances
so unconventional
but that doesn't stop it
of all the boys
it had to be you
what a perfect example of life's cruel jokes
to be the center of your attention
to make this all worthwhile
knowing that it's not just my heart beating faster faster
and impracticalities mean more

Current Music: Milla Jovovich - "Bring It On"
Father's Day in N.C. with my parents and my grandpa and his wife went well. We left at around 6:30 that morning, after I had only gotten about 3 hours of sleep. That's the beauty of 1 a.m phone calls to the person that you want to talk to more than anyone else. We got back from N.C. at around 7:00 that evening and much to my disappointment our internet still wasn't working. Bad Charter!!! So a midnight phone call was placed when given the go-ahead. Ah, I wish he could come back up for a visit soon.

Yesterday Adam and I had a real heart-to-heart. It was the first we'd had in a while and I think it was quite necessary and beneficial. Beneficial in the sense that a lot of things (but not everything) were brought into the open that needed to be and despite how sad I felt last night when I went to bed, I woke up with a much clearer head. Still a little sad but I felt like a giant weight had been lifted.

Today has been great: woke up with a great weight lifted, studied hard for my exam (actually taking the time to do some additional research), took my exam this afternoon, met with Vann Wray to get some help on my Special Education assignment for tomorrow night (Thursday), and came home to get the outstanding news from my father that I received a $3,000 scholarship. Let's say it all together: "O THANK YOU GOD!!!!!!!!" *HAPPY DANCE* I need this so badly.

Current Music: Incubus - "Admiration"
Outside the world is cool gray
cloudy, raining
calm and beautiful.
I open my window letting the damp air in
to keep the air
othewise heavy with the smell of incense

Images lay scattered on the bed.
Images in black and white.
The gray values with their perfect subtle tones
waiting to be arranged in some sort of cadence.
Some sort of subtle expression.

It's that subtlety that intrigues me.
Like a whisper.
A figure darting in and out of shadows.
A tiny voice revealing life's mysteries.
Life's playfulness.
Life's affinity for the unexpected.

Unexpected moments.
Like the figures in the images
with limbs entwined.
Captured in a gray still frame -
while memory serves to render the moment much more

Mar. 20th, 2006 @ 08:39 am some much-needed updating
Current Mood: sicksick
Current Music: Juelz Santana - "Oh Yes"
It's been a ridiculously long time since I've updated this thing. I suppose I've been investing all my time into (in no particular order):
d)being sick
j)other various tasks and artistic endeavors that keep me away from the computer

So yeah, what's new?? Well, I've been inducted into Alpha Chi, been painting like a madwoman, been sick, decided to become a teacher in addition to my initial plan of becoming an interior designer/decorater, decided to start taking education classes through UVA this summer as well as social studies classes through VWCC so that I will be certified to teach either art or social studies at the secondary level, and last Thursday three of my paintings were selected to go into a gallery (the gallering opening is this Tuesday and the show will be up about 3 weeks if anyone would care to come out and see my work).
That's not all, but the rest is irrelevant and should be saved for my next update.

Jan. 29th, 2006 @ 08:44 pm Happy Birthday Me!!! Part 3
Use your imagination again. It's January 16th:

Classes resumed at Ferrum and it's the day before my birthday - isn't that just a real bytch?? Ferrum always seems to resume class on a holiday that 3/4 of the U.S. population has off for vacation (be it from work or school). I had class from 10 til 1:50 (although today I DID get out early because my last class is Intermediate Clay and let's face it, we all knew there wouldn't be much to that class today). Yes, Intermediate Clay, which signifies another semester with that wack-job professor.
My parents had the day off and when I got home, they told me not to get comfortable because they wanted to take me out to eat for my birthday. This was a very pleasant surprise since I figured they'd done their part yesterday*. They took me to O'Charley's cause I heart their food so much. My dad couldn't resist having the waiting crew come sing to me. Thanks a bundle there pop!! 8 year old in a 47 year old's body. It was really nice though and definitely contributed to the ongoing celebration.
